You know, the kind we all have saved in boxes because we can't bear to throw away such a tender record of childhood? This is exactly the inspiration behind these personal, handmade gifts. As a mother of three I am always looking for new and creative gift ideas that my children can give to family and loved ones. I want something meaningful that they can take part in making, but at the same time something with function, purpose and permanence (because we all know you can only display so many pictures and photographs).  In anticipation of Father's Day I was trying to come up with a gift for my husband (a sculptor) and my father (who teaches child development). As I looked at the sweet drawings of my five year old, it came to me - why not turn his drawings into something more permanent - something his father and grandfather could proudly wear and show off.
